CITY OF
ORANGE GROVE
The state Comptroller's office
recently reported sales tax revenues for the City of Orange Grove during
September 2004 to be $24,581, a 52% increase over the same period last year.
No wonder if you have driven around this city lately, things are happening,
growing, improving and expanding! To complement the city’s crown
jewel, the new Orange Grove High School, a new Primary School campus is
under construction. The first pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first
grades will be on board in January of 2005. This school expansion was
necessitated by the increase in overall population within the school
district.
Another expansion is
the US Post Office. This beautiful two-year old facility is much
larger than the old facility next door and many times more attractive.
The city’s infrastructure is
also being improved. The Orange Acres and Orange Grove Villa
subdivisions will soon be on city water service thanks to a grant that
extends the city water lines. This grant will extend the main lines
complete with fire hydrants and provide service lines to each house.
In all the city will add approximately 37 new customers to its water
service.
Other new businesses include:
·
Orange Grove Mini Storage – on east 624, currently 138
individual, lockable units are available. Owner Joe Ortiz anticipates
70 additional units in the near future
·
