South Texas and Jim Wells County offer an endless vacation climate with the amenities of a world-class resort nearby.

We enjoy year-round outdoor activities including golfing, hiking, camping and boating. Saltwater and freshwater fishing combined with a thriving wildlife population all await the outdoor enthusiast. For those who prefer their entertainment indoors, there are a variety of theater groups, symphonies, art galleries and dance companies nearby. Museums, zoos, aquariums and historic sites abound, adding a Texas flair to your educational outings. And with Old Mexico right next door, international excursions are a short drive away.

CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHY
The climate of Jim Wells County is subtropical with dry winters and humid summers. The prevailing winds are southeasterly throughout the year. Warm tropical maritime air masses from the Gulf of Mexico are responsible for mild winter temperatures and hot humid weather in summer. Annually, the area receives about 63% of the total possible sunshine. Mean relative humidity is 64% at 6:00 am, 56% at noon, and 60% at 6:00 pm, CST. Free water evaporation is estimated at 57 inches annually.

Winters are pleasantly mild. Polar Canadian air masses push through about once each week, but these undergo considerable modification by the time they reach Jim Wells County. Summers are most often hot and humid. Summer days are characterized by a near-cloudless, hazy sky, light wind movement and below average humidity. Spring and Fall are the most delightful seasons. Temperatures are moderate and the weather has greater variety than in summer. Jim Wells County is known for a profusion of wild flowers during the spring.
